A lap meshplasty of an obstructed right inguinoscrotal hernia is a surgical procedure to repair a hernia in the right groin area using a mesh patch. The hernia is caused by a weakness in the abdominal wall, which allows the intestines to protrude through the groin. The obstruction occurs when the intestines become trapped in the hernia sac.
In this case, the patient was taken for surgery on an emergency basis due to the obstruction. Once the patient was under anesthesia, the obstruction was relieved immediately. A diagnostic laparoscopy was then performed to check the viability of the intestines.
The laparoscopy revealed a large hernial defect in the right groin. The hernia was reduced laparoscopically, which means that the intestines were pushed back into the abdomen. The defect was then repaired using an extra large imported mesh.
The mesh patch is placed over the defect to reinforce the abdominal wall and prevent the hernia from recurring. The mesh is typically made of a synthetic material, such as polypropylene or polyester.
This procedure is minimally invasive and typically results in a shorter hospital stay and faster recovery time than traditional open hernia surgery.
